Thinking about that lawn thing
I must have missed something in the weather forecast. That rain is hardly the thing that gets the tourist doing a happy dance. Although, in fairness, my local potato plot looks positively refreshed.
We were actually outside, in the damp. The dog managed to uncouple a rain downspout from the house (wish I’d seen his expression when a six meter aluminum tube started following him around the yard). The responsibility for restoring order fell to those of us with ladder skills.
This was PBS day. First up, a performance of the stage version of Driving Miss Daisy, starring James Earl Jones and Angela Lansbury. Two thumbs up! Somehow, the movie version paled in comparison.
Next, a series of scientific documentaries, dealing with exploration of Pluto and a small comet (respectively). It helps to shrink years of patient screen watching into an hour of TV; most of us will never have the level of concentration needed to pursue the scientific dream.
The local music festival was saddened, this afternoon, when one of the organizers suffered a heart attack and died. My condolences to the extended family.
What else happened today? I’m mentally preparing for another meeting with the landscape contractor tomorrow. Not many questions left; I think they know their business. Everything costs money and I doubt we’ll save by shopping further afield. Now to touch on the specific points in his estimate.
After all, without a lawn, our mud season might be more than we’re ready to deal with. And a more solid driveway will make getting out of the mud possible.
