Tranquility based

posted in environment |

Finally. A quiet day in the neighbourhood. Possibly typical; too early to be sure. Didn’t go anywhere, or meet with anyone. Even the dog took this as a reason to simply sit and watch.

Of course, there’s always something to read. I’m working through the back catalogue of Peter May, and learning about life in France for an ex-pat Scot. After six books, I have a new respect for his ability to develop character and put people in harm’s way. Apparently, there are books set in China, as well. More to come.

The telephone is out of its box and dusted. Just in case. I mean, some day it will ring. Already trying to imagine dragging the whole thing over to a better chair while I make copious notes on a used sheet of paper with a skipping pen. Reality.

And (drum roll here), the cameras are “out of storage”, in case I sight something requiring a visual record. Today, a newly seeded field; soon, the green will obscure the red.

Almost ready to try my hand at hanging a door. Got the procedure worked out as a mental image. Surely, those YouTube videos showed me all I’ll need to know, and my hammer can place a nail with the best of them.

The contractor checked back to see how our plumber intervention went. I was pleased to answer with positive vibes. After all, we’ve gone more than a day without waterworks. Slowly, the wrinkles in the new fabric are going away (the non-latching door yielded to some careful filework on the strike-plate).
