Newly appointed as the agent
I realize, as a taxpayer, that elected officials must make choices that are for the common good and within the ability of the common man to pay. However, right about now, I’d love to have more frequent garbage pickup. Or at least the right to trade in some of those simpler times when I didn’t have to put a bin out to the curb. Ours is held closed with a huge steel weight I found while mining in the basement (which is why more pickup would be appreciated).
Of course, there are other possibilities. I’ve “spotted” a number of dumpsters belonging to the municipality; since all garbage belongs to them, this is a simple redistribution of the loading. Might require “an attack under cover of darkness”, but I’ve watched enough low budget war movies to formulate a plan of action.
Right now, I’m waiting for the phone to ring. Seems that I’m the “agent” for one of the kids, to sell a kayak that has had rent-free storage for several seasons. He doesn’t want it in his apartment, and we don’t want to drag it to the ocean (where I might attempt a Joshua Slocum, accidentally). For moments like this, there’s Kijiji…
Hard to tell how many potential new owners are out there; if I get swamped with calls, I could dry off and open a franchise. Realistically, the undersized craft might never find a buyer, but optimism is everything.
Now we’re in to clearing the larder. Freezer fare. Leftovers. Whatever will fit on a plate of fortune.
