Gaga, unmasked and unplugged

posted in music, politics |

Based on several news stories, repeated commercials and an easy-to-locate website, it seems that I’m part of a group that will be richer than before. Relatively. A class action suit involving Canadians that purchased devices containing computer memory some years ago has come back with an award. As a result, we’re all getting $20 in the mail. From where I sit, it might be hard to find a Canadian that doesn’t qualify.

The dog now believes that I’m the “go to” guy for random bits of food. Doesn’t matter what; if I’ll eat it, so will he. And if I ignore the laser gaze, there’s always an armed paw to the kneecap. Frontier mentality.

PEI has a new government, looking much like the old. Other than a shiny (from the crown) premier, all the other members of the downsized cabinet are technically retreads. But, this is simply a glimpse into the future. There will be an election, sooner than scheduled. I might not get to vote, but I can enjoy the rhetoric. And, after all, isn’t that why we have a political system.

The Academy Awards passed, quietly. Another year where none of the movies were watched by yours truly, despite good intentions. I’ve learned to consider the gala as a recommendation for my Netflix choices, in the distant future. The music, however, will be heard. Over and over and over again.

Speaking of which… one of the highlight performances was that of a Sound of Music medley by Lady Gaga. No wild costumes, or theatrical devices; just a first class vocal performance.
