Lending a virtual hand for the job

posted in computing, pets |

Today, in a break with my usual pattern, I actually went outside and moved snow around for something to do. The new accumulation of about 40 cm needed talented intervention (or a mechanical plow); I simply provided my lifetime of experienced technique. How long until spring, already?

Helping son #2 set up a new computer, by remaining available for any questions that arise. Someone else took the time to drive over with properly formatted software and the USB keyboard from my lonely Mac; my part was sufficient to the cause. Odd to think that I haven’t had any call (professionally) to do an install for better than four months now. I really have retired from my past responsibilities.

Trying to decide what to bring in, for groceries. Do we want to empty the pantry, or box the whole show up and move it east when the time comes? Hard to know. Eating goes on, day after day. I wish we knew when we were “leaving the station” so to speak.

The dog alarm went off early, although I still don’t know why. The newspaper delivery should end, any day now, but this was before the box stuffing. What did the dogs see? Was it someone dragging their human around the block, or a UPO (unidentified plowing object) or just one of those silly moments where one dog thinks something important is going on, and the other lends a lung. Loud, in any case. I never went back to bed, and the sunrise was “at the expected time”. Maybe I can get back to sleep soon…
