Inside view

posted in health, travel |

With the right amount of money, I can go everywhere. Such is the premise of local public transit. Standard fares. Free transfer (in one direction). Seating for almost everyone. With those things in mind, I left the car (and driver) at home and went back to my first love, the bus.

On time at my stop and on time at destination. I’d already checked the required scheduling, and a bag of coin from the bedside table gave me all I needed to get past Cerberus, the Guardian (OK, my bus driver). There has been progress; the Metrobus now has a display screen to cut confusion, as in “Where will we be in two minutes?” Along with a synthesized voice for those too young to read.

Today, my goal was to get in and out of the medical clinic without mishap. I like the illusion of health, and the combination of free wifi and this iPad kept me “in the loop”. We’re trying to finalize the disposition of rooms in the new basement, and time is important. Several modifications in the layout, forwarded via email to me in a waiting room. Yes, almost half of the day involved waiting…

The laser inteferometry step in my morning was interesting, mainly because the surgeon took the time to show me the pics, and explain what we were looking at. How else can I see inside my eyeball? There’ll be a second sequence taken in a couple of months, to see how the whole healing “out of sight” progresses.

Turns out my doctor is also an artist, at heart…

Contemplated another quick trip east, but freezing rain and an impending heavy snowfall dampened my enthusiasm.
