Streams of (in)security
From where I sit, few topics are better served through television documentaries than recent military history. As in, man with his machines. Going back to the Prudential weekly lessons of my childhood, and moving along, my knowledge of who fought who, where and when comes from TV. No answer of why, unfortunately.
The battles fought in Gallipoli, almost a century ago, first came to my notice through folk songs. Yes, music tends to like using the “hook” of war. Anyhow. Tonight NatGeo presented a documentary by the master diver, Ballard. A look at what lies on the bottom and shoreline of the Dardanelles. War Is Hell, but good documentary programming teaches.
No snow. Yet. Check back later in the week.
Out for coffee and cheesecake. Balanced diet. Seriously, losing our coffee machine would cause an unfair strain on our lives. I’m almost tempted to purchase a reserve machine…
An article about a website that streams webcam footage made the news today. You see, unless your sysop is wise, they might be streaming YOUR camera. Put the feed online, and they will come. Weak passwords: how many ways can the pundits tell you? Although some will “shut the door” after this reports, many are clueless about the possibilities. Here, one word… INSECAM (all you really need…)
And for the record, I have a public webcam, unprotected. The view of a stately spruce in the back forty is titillating. Maybe you’ll spot one of those squirrels that have made it into this part of town. Or the perambulating porcupine. Knock yourselves out.
