New shiny OS update

posted in computing |

If winter arrives, I will put the boots to it. Really! Under dark, rainy skies, I sallied forth this morning and chose the footwear that will get me through the next round of Canadian fun. Limit the “slippin’ ‘n slidin'”‘ and go with gripping, not gliding. Real knobby soles, and laces. Side zippers seem so practical until that eventual morning when they aren’t.

With winter now tamed, let the autumn continue.

Last evening, the full green bin was carefully placed by the curb, just like any other Thursday. This morning, the noisy truck rolled right on by, ignoring my efforts (and a stack of lightly used patio chairs). I knew what to do with those: over to the EcoCentre, but the bin left me perplexed. So, I called. The city has arbitrarily modified the calendar, and we now have half the service we had just one week ago. Normally, I’d take that in stride, as a taxpayer.

The thing is, my basement is far from empty, and my schedule just took a major hit. Not sure what to do about this.

Today, my Mini inhaled a huge breath of Yosemite. An OS UPDATE, no less. Seems to have gone “well”, in that what worked before still does. I might have managed a change of ID at the same time. Go ahead… ask a fanboy what that part of the Apple philosophy is supposed to be about. Get a used machine without the credentials of the former owner, and you might as well have a pet rock. Rounded corners, for sure, but useless in the context of updatable computing.

Back on the iPad, the mother ship let me know that “the family” had increased in number, and if I hadn’t planned on that, then a password change was in order…
