The extra mile
The pain and the waiting blend seamlessly. With just over a hour to go, I’ve swallowed some over the counter analgesics, dimmed the lights and… Well, nothing else, actually. The clock measures time.
A new (and final) season of Republic of Doyle begins tonight. My eye is an aggravation, but I don’t want to miss the opening “Oh Yeah!”
The big outing for today involved a trip up the hill for more ground coffee and flash-frozen cheesecake. Provisions. Hate to think what the alternative would be. Tomorrow, a quick round of pre-op; another session of electrodes? Questions with simple answers? Mainly, a reason to feed the greedy parking tolls at the hospital.
I’d go by bus, except that we have the time to make it into a “family affair”. The dog is less enthusiastic. Maybe we’ll schedule in another appliance eyeing… The dealer (on the Island) responded to my query on delivery modalities with the following:
That might be the clincher, right there. The price quote is comparable to the national chains, with the “extra mile” for the customer’s benefit. The decision to replace our kitchen hardware is logical and expensive. No way do I want to wrestle a fridge or stove in from a driveway drop point.
Back to local affairs. Oh, wait; there aren’t any of note. Watched the news and yawned; at the midpoint, we blipped to a syndicated episode of Modern Family. Better giggles, although I had already screened this one (several times). Might have to rethink the relevance of network TV in future.
