Super-size the generator

posted in economy |

I’ve found myself listening to night noises this last while. A result of mild insomnia, brought on by stress, or so the online research tells me. Well, that should change.

Nothing to do with earlier sunsets. This morning, I received confirmation that our bridge financing has received approval. Started a chain of telephone calls and email messages, to get the subcontract “ducks in a row”. Money begets lawyers begets schedules for disbursement and a need for all the various and sundry codicils (and I’m happy about that).

The new house takes on a whole other sense of “this is really happening” and confirms that packed boxes and discarded libraries are worthwhile. Still no need for me to play sidewalk superintendent, as the bank will send any paperwork up here for signatures

Back to watching videos on the care and feeding of backup generator systems. Right now, the idea of super-sizing looks like a plan. Put in a “whole house transfer switch”. Learn to live with exercising the system and planning for regular maintenance. Preparation for whatever the Winter Witch can throw my way.

We also received an electronic flyer from the house store: a promise (I hope) that we’ll soon receive a gift card that will offset any change in “major appliances”. The stuff you can’t get along without. Not holding my breath, but a few bonbons would be a pleasant start to a new season.

The lunar eclipse started with the moon already below the ecliptic, under rainy skies. In other words, we saw nothing around here.
