Start the downsize
Odd start to the day: my domain was suspended by the ISP due to “suspicious traffic”. One of those PHP files that make WordPress whiat it is had received an injection of numbers that equalled something else, I it was up to me to fix that. Stat, as they say in the healthy world. And so I did.
The coffee machine brewed at the regular time, while I withstood the impulse to pack a lunch. Didn’t go to the bus stop, either. New start, a new season (autumn). Instead, a few moments to consider the possibilities, and then up to the spare bedroom. No sleep; it’s time to start throwing out all the things that I don’t want to drag around any more. Magazines, mainly, and a bunch of empty shipping boxes. One day at a time, while trying to reach the end of the week without overflow on the green and blue refuse bins.
In a world ruled by things like Star Trek, I’d have a transporter to get my stuff from A to B. In this one, I have to downsize. And so on to the next target. Old stereo gear. I’ll never play another LP – out with the turntable. No more cassettes – out with the cassette/CD player that takes up too much room. That DVD player that was already overpriced and underpowered – gone. Add an old scanner (the photo kind, not radio) to the growing pile. There’s an EcoCentre near by that will swallow my offerings.
And with the small pile already growing, I called a pause. Rome was not a one day project; neither is my downsize.
