Spotted the wandering klepto hound
Spotted the local kibble klepto this morning. Turns out that Pepper shows up most days, shortly after dawn, and makes his round of the various sites. If nobody hugs him or offers tasty food (and there isn’t any bowl to rifle), he returns to his den and waits the morrow.
We spent the day in Souris. Restaurants, wifi, a place to sit in a local museum if writing term papers is your game. The dog and I had Plan B which involved keeping company in the car under sporadic showers. I never promised to lead an interesting life. There’s CBC and the chance to follow the dog from tree to overhanging bush. It never grows old.
While enjoying lunch, the waitress talked of her choice. Come to university on the Island as a CEGEP ad lindane strategy. How often has that gambit been used by youth in love with this place in the last half-century, I wonder? It works, and keeps new fresh faces around the place.
We decided to check out some of the available houses for sale in the area. Century farmhouses, renovated and ready for new owners, as long as the mortgage merchant doesn’t mind steep stairs and damp cellars. I am so not going that route… To be fair, the better properties should still be standing tall decades from now with ever newer owners. These are not priced for the young families; rather, those who want to relax and watch the seasons cycle by. Hey – that’s me. I still want new, though.
