Neighbours near waterfalls

posted in travel |

While we were out, the dog and I discovered a waterfall and a neighbour. Sort of. The water was falling over a cliff, so technically this one qualifies as real. The neighbour lives in the same part of town, but we didn’t exactly discover him; he noticed the dealership logo on our car and came over to the waterfall to say hello. It was hot out…

You see, my new way of spending the day is to drive down a road (that goes someplace other than back to the hotel) and see if I have ever been there before. Usually not. Over a lifetime, maps have provided me with lots of information, not personally verified. I am trying to remedy that shortfall. Which explains the close encounter with the waterfall. More adventures tomorrow.

We’re into one of those “hot and humid” subsets of summer; sudden showers, foggy glasses when exiting the car (AC rocks!), even more sudden thundering sounds (although a Harley has a similar effect). I find myself fascinated by the weather reports (no tornado activity in this area). No beach burn, yet.  No hurricane activity “for the next five days”…

Big moment, when the dog and I (always together) were locked out of the room. My fault; I offered to let the housekeeping team gave the room for a quick round of whatever they do, and I left the card key (which only works sometimes) behind. I then had to employ my “simple English” to convince them to let me back in. The dog looked familiar enough that we passed muster, but it could have gone very differently.
