Bumped grades

Score another point for cheese. Over breaded pork chops, you get something even better. I should have taken a picture, but I was distracted by the flavour. Maybe next time.

We re-watched the concert from last evening (St-Jean, on the Plains). Some fine musicians; not just in fine voice, but able to grab an instrument and make some noise. I love watching those performance moments, put together with gaffer tape and trust in a higher power. No weeks of rehearsal; you either “got it” or you don’t. Hard to fake things, in front of twenty thousand with no lipsync in the network. Some famous people should pay more attention. Musicality trumps fakery.

The lawn will continue to grow, unabated. Just as I thought I had someone convinced to follow the mower around the circuit, the showers began. I’ve cut damp grass, and it doesn’t work well. Lumpy looking. Maybe tomorrow, if the day runs to hot and dry. This is a holiday, locally. No newspaper. No shopping. No need to rise before the shine.

Spent some time catching up on my magazine reading, on the iPad. I may subscribe to other titles, since the first couple have worked out so well. Yes, I miss the piles of paper (which have to be recycled, eventually), but change is good.

Out of BC… shock that schools are “bumping grades” up to a pass mark, given the labour unrest. Let me shine a light into a dark corner of the educational system: schools bump grades, right across the country. It has to do with maintaining the trust of the ruling class. Any exam can be written to allow more success. This just bypasses the gimmick and uses the computer interface to ease an administrator’s task.
