My break
The night ran late, but I hung in there until the Ite missa est was pronounced by Ellen, and the fancy dress group left for the after party. There will be other gala evenings, over the next few weeks, but I doubt that the others will match the mark set with this one. They broke Twitter!
I remain puzzled, as do many others. I check HufPo, and BusWeek. Even Wiki. We just don’t know who pays for the little blue bird. Millions of users, all freeloaders. Running feeds on media sites. Courses for administrators (in my garden). No clue who is actually “the man behind the curtain”.
This was Day One of the mid-term break. Not for me; for those around me. I simply enjoyed the solitude. Four more days to go, and the diminished stress level is lovely. I could turn off the phone, kill the lights, sing; nobody would care. Now that’s worth mentioning. To be fair, I did reinstall some important software for one of the psychologists, and the printer that was broken – wasn’t. Another case of Technician Proximity Effect. Seriously, this should merit a funded study.
Someone suggested that I make a trip down to Boston, just for the fun of it. Eight hours on new roads, a chance to see some familiar landmarks (from movies and TV) and perhaps a meeting with some relatives. As far as I can tell, there’s one or more of the nephews/nieces/cousins in the area just about any time. Wouldn’t that be a giggle? No fair warning anyone of the voyage. Just go and see what catches my (working) eye. After the surgery…
