Need to read, more

posted in humour |

This is just an idea. I may have to start reading more. Turns out that there are a lot of books to go through before I can claim to have a broad education.

Just watched a short bit on William S Burroughs. Haven’t read anything by him. He was part of the Beat Generation. Haven’t read any of the others, either. See what I mean. If I must be judged, then that brief binge of Hardy Boys books, back in Grade Five will not be sufficient. Ditto for my knowledge of geopolitics based on the efforts of Tom Clancy. Must get at the books, as “old school” as that seems.

After the weekend. Right now, I want to convince son #3 that he should call and find out the prices of low brass. There’s a sale going on, here in town. My suspicion is that the prices won’t be low enough to convince either of us that we need to get another instrument in the house. More “old school”.

This is starting to look like the start of a bucket list. Never thought I’d be “there”, but every one of us has to realize that the time we have is shorter than necessary to do all the interesting stuff. Heaven knows I’ve got the dull stuff under control. Made quota, so to speak.

And in other places, people worry about things that are more entwined with the whole daily bread meme. You know, working just so you can eat, instead of working so you don’t have to eat (all the time). Please, hide the box of chocolates!
