Perfect way to end a perfect season; with a trophy
As seen “under the lights”, steady flurries in a steady wind. As seen at field level, the steady progress of a team towards an expected conclusion. This was the Vanier Cup 2013, as seen from my chair.
I tried to watch the game on the English channel, but the English commentators adopted, early, the view that there was only one team in the game. Must be a language problem, because over on the French channel, the same game had two evenly matched adversaries, and only one conclusion to the game. A final score of 25-14 for the Rouge et Or against the Calgary Dinos. I would perfer a pass/fail option, or a win/lose score listing, but there are the numbers for the statistically obliged. The game was never a “nail-biter” in the normal sense. Glen Constantin does things right.
In a moment of comic relief, His Honour The Mayor provided a photobomb (twice). Down by the bench, waiting for the coach to invite him to play? I don’t have the actual image, but this is close enough to provide food for thought.
Enough football for this season. A perfect season is a bigger deal for a player than for a fan, but those of us in the good seats appreciate the effort. I was joined, for a time, by son #2. A chance to catch up on his hopes and wishes (no dreams recounted).
Based on a recipe forwarded by a friend, I did my first batch of pulled pork. The whole thing is sitting in the warming pan, waiting for me to give it a try. With a slow cooker, the most important ingredient was time. My trip over to the market for bread and slaw was an icy one; winter comes early and stays late in this part of the world.
