Hot, wet and windy

posted in environment, pets |

Too much rain. Too much  wind. Too warm. Heading home from a day with 60 mm of  newly deposited water, blown about by breezes reaching 90 kph, and a thermometer that maxed out at 18C; not exactly traditional fare for November. But, enough about the weather.

The best thing on TV this evening… an episode of Canada’s Worst Driver EVER.  Familiar faces, brought back for another round of humiliation. Drawn from the nation-wide pool of mediocrity, this gang remind me that I am safer (statistically) in my big old bus. Or safe behind a concrete barrier. Out on the roads, I could get killed (more than once).

We’re blessed with a pair of hounds this evening, and once the excitement died down the chairs turned back into “oh, so comfortable” supports for the paw squad. I’ve learned to protect my territory, or share it.

At work, the room reservation system has returned to centre stage. How much information is too much information, in the corporate context? Should everyone know that a room has been booked for a confidential meeting, or should we stay with the “sorry, busy” labels that are now applied. Turns out that certain people want to know (who they can bump) when it comes to getting a place around that conference table. This one will take a little work. I also helped someone put their email back into order. Took time, though. What with power failures and “error 18”, I had to take control (remote desktop) and then hang in until the dust settled.

My preferred radio magazine is shutting down. On a whim, I ordered the archive collection. You know; for old times sake.
