Bad latency and a new python
Busy evening. Since supper, I’ve tried wrstling a python and confronted the latency monster on my laptop. Not how I envisioned the evening.
I’m doing the home alone thing; just me and the mutt. Not much talk, a great respect for the idea of food at will, and some heavy study. My online course work was starting to fall behind, and tonight is my chance to rectify the problem while others are doing a roadtrip. First step, get my peer marking completed. Actually easier than I expected, and I’m clear on that line of responsibilities.
Next up, start watching last weeks instructional videos. Hence the Python. Another programming language, at a time in my life where I’m trying to diminish that stuff. Looks much like other coding techniques I’ve studied, so the upcoming assignment should be doable. And with that (and an hour of theory behind me), time to try some MIDI.
The latency on the drum controller is serious. Worse than a big room echo, so I’m trying to find a set of ASIO drivers. At least I don’t have to roll my own, and whatever I improve will be useful in later projects.
But, I’m also tired. Last night ran very late, and sleeping in a strange bed (even if the mattress is familiar) means that the day has been going on for too long. Time to put the dog out, dim the lights and slip under covers. I’ll keep the SMS device close at hand, until the road crew ends up somewhere. Least I can do for the cause.
