Pedestrians bottlenecking (and rubbernecking)

posted in economy |

There’s a new game in town. And in our house. GTA V. After watching for the last half hour or so, I still have no idea what the game objective might be. However, this is not a training film for driver ed.

Want to bring productivity in the modern office to a halt? Have no refill cartridge for the photocopier on hand. The lineups are amazing.

Today, there are five large cruise ships in town, including the QM2. Traffic doesn’t seem to have taken the traditional hit, but I have to wonder what it is like, in a boutique, in the Old City this evening. Pedestrians can also bottleneck, especially when many are moving REALLY slowly. How come the mayor doesn’t want to double up on sidewalk lanes?

In an “up the ante” crime report, someone (in the Hamilton, Ontario area,) has stolen twenty tons of ground round. Frozen, for now. The “street value” has been quoted at $100K. A bigger crime than last month, when someone stole $250 worth of steak. Or unground round…

I didn’t find it on Google Streetview, but the big steel ball at GSVU (you can look it up), is gone. Seems that the Miley Cyrus video, “Wrecking Ball”, inspired too much emulative behavior. The school administrators, doing what they’re paid to do, (keeing the stupid in safety) have removed the sculpture and put it into storage.  Funny how certain news stories are important. Or distracting, Or something.

Actually, back to Google Streetview; the old couch is gone from the end of our driveway (just like in real life). And I didn’t see the funny car, again.
