I’m a router rooter

posted in computing |

I just spent some time “solving a mystery” with my sister. Her wireless router, similar to mine, has been acting in an unfriendly manner; to wit, dumping connections on a random basis. Tonight, lots of signal strength but no banana.

So, with some phone support, I managed to get all the ducks back in a row and get her system back up. While we were doing this, it was just a chance to “smalltalk” (not the programming language, which has capital letters in odd places). I guess that in the three decades since I left home, the floods of water under those virtual bridges have left us both a little mellower.

Today we (the group at work) met with the consultant, and two out of three let one out of three do ALL the talking. It was a little like having a radio on. I do hope the consultant will be able to sort the wheat from the chaff when the hand-written notes are ground into report flour.

March has begun; one of the colder lions I can remember. Meanwhile, PEI waits to see if Sir Cousin Paul (McCartney) will arrive to protest against the seal hunt that isn’t taking place due to the thin ice in the region.
