Gear changes
Today brought some gear changes around the house. Son #3 has managed to snag a “gamer” machine, and in the current vision of things, SSD rules. I ordered a drive yesterday and received it today; excellent service from the folks at NCIX. The machine is busily installing (software updates) and by tomorrow should be ready to do something virtually important. I did have to go out for a SATA cable, and the local stores are not friends of mine. A single cable at $22 (Future Shop) compares poorly with a dealer in Toronto who will sell me one for $2. With free shipping, to sweeten the deal.
Also, the oversize exercise machine has moved to a new home, thanks to Kijiji. Keeping things local. The buyer arrived, ready to assist with disassembly, and we spent the time catching up on former neighbours/mutual acquaintances. I’d have to stop and count fingers and toes to put a number on “how long since”. And now there’s a big, empty space at the foot of the stairs. I could practice “running on the spot”, I suppose.
The current weather map is showing a lot of severe thunder activity, along with tornado watch warnings. I prefer snowstorms, given a choice. Since the province goes into “construction holiday” mode as of this afternoon, the petroleum industry has decided to follow their business plan (the rape and pillage one) by hiking gas prices in the Montreal area to just below $1.50 (heavy duty, compared to the rest of the civilized world). Here in the local market, we’re still running at $1.44 but it’s early.
