Avoid over exercising (the brain) in high heat

posted in computing |

Having trouble deciding how much time and energy I want to put into a project. The high heat and humidity have sapped my interest in anything that requires hours of manipulation.

This time around, I considered being proactive. You know, preparing my laptop before vacation starts, by digging out those various wifi passwords I’ve gathered over the last few seasons. By changing out the hard drive, recently, I put my toolkit back to “empty”. The other hard drive is in a drawer, but it means taking apart of the computer, replacing the hard drive, booting up, exporting the keys and then reversing my steps (think getting out of a labyrinth). All that to save asking for a particular access code, if we return to the same place and the owners haven’t modified their configuration. Whew! Just thinking about the process is tiring me out.

Let’s leave that project for some other moment. I could go for a swim, but that means getting the pool ladder into place and girding up my loins for water temperatures that don’t quite match the surrounding air. Probably feel good, once I’m in, but it’s getting dark outside and neither of the dogs seems interested. Let’s scratch that idea, too.

I told you. Humidex is a synonym for “all my energy is gone, and I’d sleep except that it also would require an effort”. Time to find my headphones, and the MP3 player and a cool corner to curl up with an ebook for the hour or two I have left before the energy meter ticks down to zero and I start to dream.
