Shipping error

posted in economy |

Almost fits. I suppose that is OK when it comes to a t-shirt, but in the high tech world, it complicates life. We finally received the lamp for our main projector at work, at great expense. And it doesn’t fit. Looks the same. Has the same part number stamped into the casing. Goes in just like the other one. And stops. Never makes contact. We went so far as to unbolt the projector from the conference room ceiling, to give a better angle on things. No luck. The local dealer has been contacted, and if we bring the projector and both lamps over to their shop in the industrial park, they’ll take a look. Likely, they’ll see the same thing as us, but the problem will be a shared one.

Still trying to find out where a shipped laptop ended up. The paperwork allows access to the website for tracking a voyage, and we “see” two boxes arrive at a regional depot and one leaving. This happened three weeks ago, so I figure there’s going to be a claim for missed delivery. Glad I won’t have to wear the badge of “something went wrong”.

There. A day where things did not work out wonderfully. Based on the law of averages, this kind of success rate happens all across the continent. Not good for the economy, I guess. In contrast, the gang in China manages to get my eBay stuff to my door… every time. Packages with a total value of less than a Toonie are sent half-way around the world without a glitch. We should be jealous; they’ve figured out how shipping works.
