Which label best fits?
Time to reach out for assistance. My identity crisis has grown exponentially, following the question asked in today’s Slashdot poll: Am I a geek or a nerd? Some of you will respond with the old saw about how asking the question is answering it, but I really want to know. Checking with the definitions on Wikipedia did not clarify matters (I know that both geeks and nerds are able to edit there). Guess I should call my family. Or, as they tell me, I should call my family…
Tonight, I also submitted the final assignment for the guitar course. Or half of the assignment. I can do one part with my eyes closed; the other part is beyond my neophyte skill level. To not submit anything would invite a null grade, but I hope that the peers are so befuddled that they think I completed the work “completely”. I’ll know by the weekend, and the final grade should be available as well. Will I gain the free wallpaper to go with the free course content? Inquiring minds want to know.
The brace of air conditioning units got our server farm through the weekend, and continue to maintain the temperatures below alarm levels. Apparently, the gear was purchased to cool a school office (at $500 a pop) and so no actual extra cash was spent on the effort. And I’m left wondering if I’d like to head on over to Costco and purchase something else to annoy me with white noise. My gut feeling is to abstain, since the next house will have AC as part of the package. You know; keeping global warming under control by sending a few thousand BTUs of heat upward and outward.
