Last meals for those who must leave

posted in travel |

We took another shore road this morning and ended up having a tasty meal just east of the lighthouse in Naufrage. The Shipwreck Point cafe came highly recommended by Mr. Gray in the Guardian, and we weren’t disappointed. I have never had any occasion to go looking for a meal in that area, but even in mid-afternoon the place was full. Good sign.

Heading back toward Souris, we did some quick internet at the CAP, some quick shopping at the “mall” and then took another chance at finding the “man of legends”, who was at work in the back of the incendiary response centre. Summer is almost over for us in this area, so I was glad to get a chance to wish him a good winter, albeit six months early.

Then, off to town for a last meal at the old Jail. Symbolic. The wait for the dessert testing team left the dog and I sitting above the old rail (now trail) path. I miss the trains, but the joggers have taken it over. Calling an end to things by checking out lots for sale across the bridge, we returned to the campground for an early night. We’ll have to pack tomorrow.
