No clouds in my sky
The school board is heading into March Break. This guy isn’t. Instead, I’m pulling solo duty in the office. And I can handle that. Here’s how it works; I’m the support guy, for a building that will be almost empty. What can go wrong? I’ll come back in a fortnight and bring you up to date.
Still on the school board. With an announced change in the student eligibility law, the number of students could drop by fifteen percent. That won’t mean smaller class size; government budget rules will mean a drop of employees to match the new clientele. Think of it as being like the shrinkage of a lobster, kept out of water too long. And from experience, I can attest that if a lobster shrinks too much, it dies. There’s a parable here.
Took a quick look at the specs for the Chromebook today. Light as a cloud (sic). The only catch is that the weather system seems to have stopped at the border, and you can’t buy one up here. I tried, just for fun. Amazon would sell me one, but not ship me one. Great deal for them… for me not so much. And so I did the smart thing, carefully emptying my cart and walking away, whistling a mournful air. Smaller, lighter computers are fun, I think. Until the retail world catches up, I just won’t be able to see for myself. Meanwhile, I’ll carry on with a netbook and a tablet or two, and the Chromebook will have to evolve without my input. Or output. Does anyone (else) care?
