The dog is spark shy

posted in Idol, pets |

Another documentary on D iscovery Channel, this time dealing with unidentified flying stuff. The bottom line seems to be that there’s a rational explanation for just about everything. As for the rest, well… pity the photos aren’t better, eh?

North Korea (you may remember them as a point on Bush’s “axis of evil”) now plans additional nuclear tests. And they warn the US that “this time”, their missile could go all the way. Which begs the question: Do they really want the food packages to stop and the long, long winter to begin? Not a good idea to goad the big dog with the big teeth.

The dog really doesn’t like cold weather. Trying to convince him to go out reminded me of another hound and another time. An electric fence… Of course, the ski hills around here are also closed at night due to the drop in temperature.

The dog also doesn’t appreciate when I place one hand in front of his muzzle, and stroke his fur with the other hand. Dogs don’t understand static electricity (any better than kids in your local high school science class). Proof: drag out a Wimshurst machine and watch the wannabees.

And lest I forget, another season of American Idol is upon us. Tonight is the fourth evening of auditions. There’s grumbling in my local area. Something about unfair attention of people suffering from delusions of talent. I’m more of the opinion that everyone deserves an opportunity. If I happen to giggle, or cover my ears, that’s my right as a spectator.
