Tracing the long gone rails
A new season of Republic of Doyle starts in a few hours time, and I’m looking forward to that. If you haven’t caught the series, get on over to CBC. Our visit to St. John’s during the summer of 2011 was cool, because we’d already visited virtually.
After a neat article in today’s paper, I headed on down to the public library and borrowed a history of tramways in Montreal. The Quebec City volume was missing in action (someone else with a curiosity about those long gone rails?). I’m a bit lost; my knowledge of the various neighbourhoods of Montreal is weak, with only one winter decades ago to plant seeds. Still, the book is turning into a good read. Lots of photos, and an appreciation for something else “rail based”.
Back to work in the morning. Not much that I can add.
Altogether too much joy from hockey addicts. Yes, the lockout may end, and the rest of us will endure your endless prattling about how your team is better than [fill in the blank]. Guess what? If you aren’t on the ice, it doesn’t really matter. Go ahead, buy some overpriced sweaters. Make like a goof in July, with your jersey. I still believe that the decision of the networks to rebroadcast games from the past puts it in perspective. Couldn’t tell the difference!
I’m glad that ruk has acquired a taste for Raspberry Pi. He’ll find something interesting to do with his, and he’ll reveal how he did it, and I’ll be a willing student.
