Out and about in the rain
A sequence that gets things done without leaving any lasting mark. My life. Put the load of laundry into slow cycle. Steer the family taxi into the city centre; impossible to arrive “on time”, given the short notice I receive that a trip will be needed. Head back out along the shore route.
The pouring rain could have been drizzle, or freezing. Small comfort as the day fades, quickly. Fill the gas tank, so that others may arrive at work on time, in the days that follow. A brief halt at the surplus warehouse, where many desks beckon their readiness to serve in my next radio station. No space at the inn, so the possibilities remain just that. Off to “do” the groceries. At least the muffins are close to the front of the store, but imagining successful menu choices for the next few days means that darkness is fully installed by the time I get back home. Gone for ninety minutes.
On the radio, a discussion about the obvious increase in corruption in mayoral circles. Is that so? Ever heard of Tammany Hall? I decided to shut off the sound. Let the others complain among themselves.
The dog is always willing to have a belly scratch. Some day, he’ll grin. I know this. On TV, the aria from Fifth Element.
Wikipedia is holding (yet) another fund raising campaign, in a manner reminiscent of “public TV”. No concerts. The part that stops me from contributing is the following disclaimer: “By donating, you are sharing your information with the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit organization that hosts Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, and its service providers in the U.S. and elsewhere pursuant to our donor privacy policy.” You might want to work on that aspect.
