I recall when he was recalled

posted in politics |

Among the football-inspired headlines from this past weekend, one bears repeating: “Bieber Booed, Lightfoot Lauded”. Or as a co-worker put it, “What were they thinking?” Unless the target audience was “girls under the age of eight”, the choice for a headline act was wrong, on so many levels.

But that was yesterday’s news. Today, the mayor of TO got TOLD. Yes, you can get elected, but you can also get removed from office. Sure, the appeal process is ahead, but the alarm clock is ringing. Canada’s largest city doesn’t need Canada’s largest embarrassment…

I’m here, with the dog. My pork chops are done, and I have a quiet evening ahead. I know – I should DO something. I did exchange some text messages with son #1… is that enough?

Oh, wait. I’ve done some more genealogy in the last hour. Nobody related to me, but I did add some acquaintances from high school. Not my usual target group. Just a reflection on how much easier things are (in the research cycle), now that we have this Internet trick up our sleeves. So much information, available to anyone that can type coherently.

Three byelections in the federal government today. One, in Calgary, may prove to be interesting (may…) Imagine if the current government receives a “defeated” sticker, in their own lair. Imagine… How many hours until the results are in? I might stay up late, just in case.

And a final recall reference: a line of sunblock products has been recalled, due to a risk of the wearer catching fire. Just come in out of the sun, already!
