Faint praise for the shredder guy, and an online seller

posted in environment |

When supper has to be quick, and KD isn’t up for approval, I’ll often opt for a hen in a space shuttle (BBQ chicken sold in a plastic package). And years from now, I hope we’ll all look back and laugh.

We’ve been officially “boss free” for several days. No difference noted. When others ask, I explain that we are a particularly disciplined group, and direction was/is unnecessary. The will be is left as undertone. Seriously, do others expect us to be dancing in the cubicles, or holding elastic wars? I mention that as a nod to earlier times.

Watching the shredder guy, this afternoon. He shows up, periodically, with a big truck. There are locked, slotted cabinets around the building; only he has a key. He collects the blue bags full of paper and heads off for a session of near-destruction. That’s how it works, in a world where the photocopier runs (for lack of a better adverb) incessantly. I wonder if there is a single document in the building (other than ones I have created) that doesn’t have a twin. The shredder is simply for the do-overs; everything else gets filed. That whole concept of a paperless office? Fantasy.

My faint praise of an online retailer (from yesterday) has already met with a response from “the watchers”. I’ve been accused of collusion. And for the record, I’m not going to feed the trolls.

Among the “toys to be avoided” this year, Buckyballs have made the list. I wasn’t planning to regift my, in any case.
