Cheap tools are not a bargain
With the able assistance of son #3, two more windows now have blinds worthy of the name. This is good; both from the angle of “What would we do if the Google Street View car made a return visit?” and “Do your children know how to perform simple maintenance tasks?”
The downside to such efforts (at the end of a work day) is that we aren’t through. Energy and interest dropped below the horizon about the time that prime time TV ticked into place. Tomorrow. Hey, I did go for coffee beans today, so that counts as a plus.
Another of the Rankin family has passed. Too young.
There. I’ve paused. Now to carry on, without any particular focus. Back to the blinds. Remember that we made our purchase based on racks of samples in a store. Happily, the real thing actually looks good. And fits. Not a sure thing, when you measure and then shop. The industrial process can play tricks. Mounting was actually easier than anticipated, mainly because I found “the wood” without special techniques of divination. Just place the clips in the approximate place and tighten the screws. As soon as we’re done, I’m purging the tool tray. Those cheap screwdriver I bought on a whim weren’t worth much in heat of battle. Robertson’s that weren’t. I’ll go back to the racks and choose something that is actually designed to specification. Cheap tools are not a bargain.
And with that, a fervent wish for a good night’s rest. Last evening was not a model of proper sleep, and today I would have traded my desk for a hammock without shame. As a footnote, the last commercial AM station in this area went off the air at midnight last. 800 Kcs, silent.
