From a cabin to a terminus

posted in travel |

Funny kind of day. Moved from a cabin to an airport without hesitation. Now to see how this all plays out.

Right… back to the cabin. The rain didn’t come in, and when the cloud cover lifted before coffeetime I was able to plant a dry tent and belongings on our next “home away from home”. No antennas  yet. The number of available trees has dropped from a year ago.

The thought of hot coffee and a muffin put the car on autopilot to Montague (even if that wasn’t what we ate at the end of the road). A small cafe in a small mall, with friendly staff: the proprietor even came out to greet the dog.  After promising to visit again, I bought a book about Newfoundland place names. No logical connection implied.

Actually, this vacation is turning into a steady diet of fish and cinnamon buns. Found a great bakery, with good coffee and prices from the last century, which will mean a return in the next few days.

Spent some time on the waterfront, if only to give the dog a break from passenger service. Going for a walk involves multiple stops to irrigate the shrubberies. Oddly reassuring to think he has a hobby.

Another supper at the Sheltered Harbour Cafe… where the food is worth coming back (again and again). And following some iPhone conniving, we set route (not sail) for the Charlottetown Airport, to meet my mother and nephew. The facility is much larger than when I first started showing interest in planes and trains, and the free wifi makes posting easy as strawberry-rhubarb pie (the dessert menu at supper).
