Impending rain

posted in travel |

Against all probabilities, I sometimes take unsolicited advice. Even when it concerns the probabilities (weather forecasts, as interpreted by some of my older relatives). And with that in mind, I won’t be sleeping in the tent tonight. Nor will I pitch the tent in the unused floor space of the cabin, where we are waiting for dryer weather.

The area needs rain (I’ve already noted this). Today, we’re getting a steady south wind and a series of showers. Wets things down enough to keep me from the back roads and lower ends of fields (unlike yesterday). Even the dog is on task, when it comes to checking out and marking odd shrubberies.

After a roadside encounter and visit with an old friend, we recharged the cinnamon bun supplies and settled down for an afternoon of wave watching at Souris Beach. Nothing to attract surfers, but one hardy soul on a wakeboard was making the best of things. Ditto for some tourists, who failed to understand the relationship between strong wind and blowing hair in a photo shoot. For my part, I snored and worked on a small crate of plums.

Come suppertime, the new roundabout near Montague needed a closer examination. If people find operational circles confusing, try to imagine the fun with one still under construction. No, you don’t usually enter and turn left (in this country), but until completion, drivers are required to be both patient and attentive.

The ambient temperature at Wendy’s was too low for comfort. Eating food faster in a fast food restaurant isn’t a selling point.
