A scramble for the big save
Along with that wish for a dry summer, there was a certain responsibility; the roof needs new shingles. Today, the contract was signed, although no nails will be driven until after the middle of next month. Still, the urge to stare at other roof cladding as I walked down the street will now lessen. I hope.
We went for an early lunch barbeque today, prepared by son #1. Let’s make this into something that happens more than once in a lifetime, shall we?
Interesting progression in the dynamic relationship between our dog and his (AKA frequent visitor). Until now, our houseguest has shown little talent in catching foodscraps. A little competition works wonders. This evening, my last bite of a pork cutlet was scrambled for, in a manner that made me think of a goalie in the crease. Great save!
One of the older laptops has come home to stay. A question of age and battery life, perhaps. I wasn’t willing to just put another “working machine” on a shelf, so I downloaded the Consumer Preview version of Windows 8 and installed it. Without error, or incident. I can’t find the familiar menu choices, but there’s time before the expiration date. At least the wifi and network printer were “there” without any stroking of the OS ego. Now to get a copy of Libre Office and see how Open Source fits with the latest offering from U-No-Hoo.
I saw my first genuine shrunken head on TV this evening. Those magazines from back in the barbershop days weren’t complete invention. And yes, there is no beauty in such an object.
