Planning to draft some dipoles

posted in environment, ham radio |

Time to get back on track. It’s late. I’ve already missed my usual bedtime. No matter, because this is a long weekend. Got one now, and another one in seven days. One of the few advantages of living in a province where things have to be different.

The pool repair is paid for. The paper guy is paid. There’s food in the fridge. Life is good.

I spent some time at the hardware store, a few hours ago. Felt the need to buy some nuts and bolts, in case I decide to construct a dipole or three. Even bought an 8 foot pole (no 10 foot models in stock), so that I can rig a makeshift antenna system in the middle of nowhere in particular. Perhaps I’ll even tune the antenna before I tune the radio (a first time for everything).

My efforts to “factory reset” the Playbook are turning in a slow circle. I’ve logged in, I’ve reset the wireless, but the update server is MIA this evening. Doesn’t much matter, except that there’s been a call to watch some media. Maybe tomorrow.

Tomorrow also marks another Field Day. The local club is set up just over a kilometre from here, so I’m hard put to find an excuse to not visit. Just for a few minutes. The time to see others having fun. It can’t hurt. Much. Might inspire me. Let’s see how I feel in the morning. Etc.

Did I mention that son #3 was “in the pool” this evening? Without being forced? One time does not a pattern make, so I’ll be watching over the next few days.
