Progress and sharp rebuking barking

posted in environment, pets |

In communion with (or in spite of) the seasonably warm day, a few things are now better than before. If I manage to sleep tonight (reference the aforementioned temperature), I will probably dream with a smile.

The pool is operational. All plumbing in place, the timer running, the ladder (in need of a paint job, but that’s a minor detail) athwart the rim. If I wanted to test my heart I could even go for a swim. You see, I have no idea, when the others ask about the water temperature. The thermometer is frozen at 110F (I know that can’t be accurate), and until a few hours ago, the hose was still running. Tap water, locally, is cold enough to drink. Not bathe.

We tried out the new ice cream place down the way. Their banana split is superior to the offering at DQ.  It was an excuse to leave the house, and the two dogs, for a short break. We were the keepers of an odd pair today. The two dogs were leery of one another, and the food and water dishes were guarded by their respective owners. From time to time, a sharp rebuke (that’s a style of bark), when the personal bubble was touched. It’s only for today.

I even went so far as to “fire up” the barbecue this evening. Not knowing how much gas remained in the cylinder (and too lazy to try and figure it out by weight or otherwise), I agreed to put the steaks on and see how far we’d get. The stove was ready in case things got stalled in a rare mode. I’m not a big fan of our current barbecue, and I don’t solicit opportunities to burn my supper on purpose. There.
