Test drive the car and dog
Should we, or shouldn’t we? Does a new vehicle mean “road trip”, or does it require careful “breaking in”? The dealer didn’t mention anything to us, but given the “47 sales and counting for this week”, he may have had other things on his mind (commission cheques, etc.) No ecmatter. At this time of year, we have no place to go and no time to do so. End of year in schools is hectic.
But, after some careful training of the Bluetooth-to-smartphone link, and a quick top-up with windshield washer liquid, the urge to see how the new car feels became overwhelming. It didn’t matter that the odour in the cab area spells headache both forward and back. We headed into the hills, north of here.
Oddly, I left the camera and the GPS at home, so there’s no record of our trip. We went far enough up into the hills to run out of road, and then we turned around and came back. Easy for all involved. And after a stop for steaks, we decided to roadtest the new dog. Don’t laugh. It was time to see if the hound was a jumper or a sleeper.
I’ll put him in the second category. We went down through the port area, which was full of people and short on parking space. Then, along the river and up the hill to my work area. A lovely Sunday ride for a Saturday afternoon. Sandwiches on a sidewalk bench, (the dog had squeaky cheese), no scary incidents, and then back in the rig and off to home base.
