Cleaning as treasure seeking
I’m preparing for the eventual cleaning of our basement, with the help of cable TV. I’ve been watching programs that deal with the riches that lie undiscovered. Antiques Roadshow and Canadian Pickers. To a lesser degree, Storage Wars. Forget that stuff about Hoarders, though. That’s for the unsung few that are never required to clean house.
And just in case, I pay attention to the news. Like today, when it was revealed that someone picked up a couple of ugly canvases at a garage sale, and discovered that they had been painted by the Canadian Anointed (the Group of Seven, plus). Since I won’t necessarily recognize fine art if ever I go to a sale, I’m going to pray that my unbiased judgement pays off, big time. Art and the eye of the beholder, etc.
American Idol continues, and more talent will go home this evening. That’s the game. I’ve started paying close attention to the trained coaches over at Votefortheworst.com even as the trio jumps on stage and saves Jessica from a fate worse than appearing on The Voice! High drama! My faith is restored in corporate America. Although, for the record, James Durban was back this evening, and he rocked. Hope he gets some fame, now that his season of wanting is over.
Traditions depend on continuity, so here is the annual snow calendar. I know that someone, somewhere has been waiting. And yes, the blank space for 2010 is/was intentional… this time, two years ago, someone had stolen all the available snow. The crime went unsolved. A cold case.
