Cold? Stormy? Normal!

posted in politics, Wx |

Might be getting older, but I’m not getting any brighter. This is Canada, and this is March. Those days of sunshine and snow melt were just an illusion. What magicians refer to as the “prestige” (I think).. The windchill this morning of -18C, and the knock down drag them take no prisoners snow blow down on the Island were just normal observations. Weather can’t be predicted…

It doesn’t matter. My tuque was still around, and I’m tough. Even if we get snow tomorrow, my boots are still available. See, prepared. Maybe, next year, I’ll be ready to go to some beach south of here, but for the current season I’m good with it.

Hey, the mayor has finally signed that arena contract that has kept us distracted for months (another case of “prestige”?) Let’s see if I understand the nuance. The contract will cost $35 million more than promised, there will be a smaller parking lot and a smaller building, the whole “wood” thing is now shelved, the government has to build a new gambling centre and we’re all on happy pills (the last item is a net exaggeration). And the whole pro hockey team thing is still as distant as any other mirage.

Did I miss anything? Well, PKP is doing a happy dance, so someone will be making money. That’s good. And we have further proof that politician is a suitable synonym for pathological liar.

And don’t get me started on those airplanes. The call for specifications has been ignored by all involved. Next thing, I’m going to learn some new untruth about the tooth fairy.
