Fresh fruit with benefits
I read, somewhere, that fresh fruits are good for me. If I coat the pieces with melted chocolate, does that distract from the nutritional value? Get back to me on that; I’m busily respecting the tradition of some long gone martyr, Valentine.
Mind you, the fondue part might not have originated with him. No more than paper hearts, or wearing red to coffee break, and I’ve done both of those during this short life. Sort of a modern take on the “get killed for the cause” idea. Ideal. In keeping with the date, the network has given us a head’s up that our Glee moment tonight will celebrate the many (imaginary) couples in like that populate the sound stage.
The requirement to wear red, this morning, would have been problematic… until I remembered a sleeveless nylon vest that I’d kept around from some conference years back. Stored in the closet upstairs for just such a moment. I wore it, keeping the logo discreetly out of sight, and felt that I had done my part for the team.
We’ve just over a month to the next “colour coded” workday; time to prepare myself, literally and figuratively. I’m not big on themes.
The bitter cold spell has passed, and today was comfortably springlike. We’ve lucked out this year, unlike points east. Power is still out in parts of the Magdalen Islands, after a day of freezing rain over the weekend. Video clips show kilometres of route with nary a hydro pole intact. They’re running extra ferries out of Souris, loaded with utility trucks and trailers of new poles. Not much fun.
