The season is starting to firm up
Slow to find it’s measure this season, the American Idol monster is starting to firm up. Last evening, the demure Gwen Stefani gave the performers all the room they needed, a bit of professional praise and added another star presence to a show that has proven for years to be a true entertainment value.
For those who remember the Gong Show, this isn’t it. Instead, we are lured by the trainwreck portion that opens the season. Then, in a change of pace that still leaves me amazed, a dozen players show that there is talent before there is fame, for those who have forgotten. Nobody is born with a recording contract.
The blog world has clued in, and so has the entertainment press. In fact, the cynics have their own chapter running, which shows just how much place this show is holding. When I’m not running the parental taxi, this is where I want to waste a few minutes. For the record, my vote goes to Chris Sligh, although Lakisha, Melinda and the other girl that wants to be a rock star all deserve a chance to “hang out” in the winner’s circle.
