Waiting for the punch

posted in humour |

One more year about to culminate (wonder word, that) in a recycling of the calendar on our kitchen wall. Not much else to add, really. Back when I didn’t have much experience in the game, the idea of New Year’s Eve seemed rather imposing. Now… I’ve been here before, and if currrent tendencies continue, I’ll be here again. I’m at that point in life where not much varies in the short term.

The dog (our loaner) is barking at her own invisible ghosts. Outside, streetside. When I offer to let her inspect things “up close and personal”, she goes out and then returns. The old dog as a boomerang principle.

On TV, another Bye Bye. Millions of people waiting for a good joke. I hate to always be the cynic, but I think we’ve discovered the joke.

I’ve spent part of the evening moving my web servers to another machine. Almost everything works, which means that I’m going in to the new year already behind. Almost is not the word you want as the key descriptor in the web server world. I know where to lay blame (leave me out of it, please). Tomorrow, or the next day, I’ll resolve the issue. Until then, I’m the only one that knows the difference (except for you, dear reader, but I know you’ll be kind).

And with that, I will take this opportunity to wish anyone within range “A Happy New Year”. After all, we have the potential of another 365 posts (wherein you wait for me to finally write something worth mentioning). Much like the joke list in the current Bye Bye.
