Proactive absolution

posted in politics |

This just in: if you tell someone you intend to do something unethical before you do it, instant absolution. Cooler than confession. Only in the parallel universe of our government.

First the details. The Minister Who Likes Helicopters went to a conference in Germany (Official Business). He found suitable accommodations at $1400 per diem. His entourage (posse?) also found suitable accommodations, at about $240 per diem. All this in 2010. The response of responsible government officials; that they had proactively disclosed this in 2009.

Conclusion. Time travel has been perfected.

In other Nova Scotia news, I watched a screening of Margaret’s Museum in the time before supper today. No time travel required.  I appreciated the movie more this time around, in part because I watched it, rather than reacted to it. No, it isn’t a happy tale, but getting the coal out never was. And the scenery reminds me that summer is only a winter away, and I do love Cape Breton. No need to mine coal while I’m there…

Our staff luncheon took place today. Out to a restaurant in the driving rain (which makes a mess of the already driven snow). No matter. We had provided due diligence by notifying our stakeholders of the ninety minutes absentee condition, and we were all on task (eating our lunch). Put a check beside this on my list of things to do and relax for another 365.  And for the record, I had a seafood casserole.

After a quick check with others around the office, I can confirm that support for our Justin is at a level where he can be PM any time he likes.
