Make a little noise, maybe

posted in humour |

Quiet house this evening. My fault; I should really get out my noisy stuff and create the next World Symphony. Won’t happen. Instead, I’ll be asleep long before anyone else gets back from wherever they are.

Proof that I’m not the party animal I once (thought I) was. However, I did bake the chicken and sausages that were holding down valuable fridge space, and the pineapple has been carefully decored and sliced. Maybe, by tomorrow, I’ll get back into the groove.

I received a long awaited HDMI cable this afternoon, and I can confirm that a Blackberry Playbook does “just fine” as an addition to the home entertainment centre. Music player. Movie player. Web browser, if needed. The only thing left to try is the PowerPoint compatibility. I don’t like preparing slide shows, so that may have to wait for a little while.

I mentioned my shift from pragmatist to contrarian to a couple of co-workers. They were not surprised. What’s that old line about “as others see us?”

Maybe I could find a cookbook and come up with some marvel from the oven. Cookies, or a scratch cake, or colcannon. No cabbage in the pantry, but I could try for chewy chocky cookies. Admittedly, too much work for the little time left in my awake period. Tomorrow? This isn’t technically procrastination. Just making that clear.

OK. The Ron James show will keep me suitably distracted for a short while. Then some more reading from the Neal Stephenson brick and then some rest. There. The rest of the evening has been planned.
