Approach a Celebration with care

posted in humour |

Although there’s no photo, we did receive our first “real” snow today. I don’t think it will stay past tomorrow, so the photo can wait. Not so the decision.

I have to change from last season to the next. That means boots and parka. And I’m not prepared. Every step will feel different. My personal space will grow in function of the padding. I’ll be donning tuque and gloves. Maybe a scarf for extra protection (something to do with my age). Maybe as soon as tomorrow. Again, I’m not prepared.

There should be a specific date. One that appears on the calendar, right up there with new moon alerts and the announcement of some sort of special holiday in another province. Then the decision would be a detail. I wonder if there are custom calendars available?

I’ll work it out. Have been for years and years now.

After seeing the new Coke commercial, with a Celebration of polar bears, I’m worried. Will we see a sudden upswing in violent maulings? Are there preparations underway to bring innocent (in every sense) sightseers to the edge of the ice pack? Coke did change their new can colour to something less red. Wishful thinking? Disassociation? If you pet a polar bear, (one that isn’t already rugged), do you get to keep the removed appendage? Just wondering.

Stephen King has been nominated to a select literary list: the Bad Sex in Fiction Award. I haven’t read the associated book, yet. Maybe over the weekend, so that I’ll be prepared to cheer or boo, as the case may be.
