If I had a hammer, or a key, or some other device

posted in economy, humour |

I did not get up early to stand outside a local big box store. I will not get up early tomorrow for the same reason; I don’t need a really thin laptop for what is still a lot of money. See. That wasn’t so hard. My power of resistance to sales pressure is increasing.

Given the amount of time and effort I put into virtual shopping, it’s good that my supply of extra cash is limited. Otherwise, I’d be planning on a new wing for the house, to hold gadgets. And you know where that leads? To watching me with another armload of “old stuff”, on the way to the green and blue bins. Better that I not spend, than to add to the world’s pile of throwaway.

Still have some good ideas, though. Premised on the sentence “If I had one of those, I could do such and such”, I’m just one purchase away from changing the future of mankind. Laugh, if you must; laughter is good for you. But, if I had, for example, a low whistle, or an antenna analyzer, or a real Marconi key…

Hurricane Maria did the right thing, and slowed down just as it came ashore on the Rock. Cape Race; barely a blow. Cape Spear, have no fear. Now that the eye has raced on out to sea, I can go back to predicting the path of the next disturbance. Haven’t been right, yet. Is this a learning experience?

And I purchased the battery for the weather station. Sometime after midnight last, I lost contact with the sensor modules. It all came back after the sun returned. Tomorrow, I’ll fix things properly.
