Rainy day notes

posted in travel |

I dislike when my eggs (and bacon) are runny. Rather than cook in a driving rain, we chose to go driving to someplace where the rain wouldn’t be a factor.

Ergo, breakfast in Fortune. A fortunate choice, since the coffee and hot food made a perfect combination. With that detail out of the way, it was time to visit a local contractor that installs geothermal systems. A chance to learn a few more things before we commit to a particular size of house, etc. He was willing to contribute to my quest for knowledge, which will factor in when it comes time to make a deal.

And since the day was progressing quickly despite the rain, we were off to town. After all, where else do people go around here on a rainy afternoon? There was even parking in front of the disaffected Federal building, which looks odd right now due to the removed windows. Big plans for the space, I hear tell. We didn’t dilly dally; the draw of more good coffee and some cheese cake at Casa Mia was enough to get me moving up the hill. Free wi-fi, too.

Found a coil of stranded wire out at the mall (to make a cheap antenna); I might get in some SWL time yet. The rain may continue for days (and nights); best to have an alternate activity available.

Speaking of wire, I ended the evening in a discussion about Monster wires, ISP caps and bandwidth testing. How much would wires be worth on Kijiji? What about ordering from China vs the local big box store. Nerd soup.
