Maybe it’s time to have a plan
Maybe I should pay more attention to the weather channel. After all, we live in dangerous times.
Last evening, the city of Springfield, MA had a visit from a tornado. Not exactly Tornado Alley. The video on YouTube was an eye-opener for me… forming over water, crossing the river, etc. The things I’d always believed would keep me safe from twirling winds. You see, at about the same time, we were caught up in some gusty weather, right here. And the weather channel was showing a red alert, reporting “that rotation has been observed in storm clouds, which may lead to the formation of tornados”. Right here.
Things that didn’t happen when I was young are part of the package, now. Hurricanes moving north across the Maritimes. Tornado action throughout the east of Canada. Flooding that seems to go on for weeks on end, here in Quebec. Not what I expected.
Not to be an alarmist, but I guess I should check on the status of my 72-hour plan. Assemble the whole thing into one, convenient location, instead of going on a treasure hunt should the need arise. Keep the flashlights ready. Once would be more than enough, should something go terribly wrong.
With just over a month to run until summer, it’s time to plan vacation. We have a “plan”, but it’s still sketchy. I have a direction, and a “how to get there and back”. Now I need to get specific. You know; dates, names, a “want to go see list”. Not one that I make up while we’re rolling into town. Like most other years…
